TravelManagers’ Conference Inspires Newspaper Column in New Zealand

Wednesday, 14 December 2011

Time Management Professional & Past President, Global Speakers Federation – Robyn Pearce

TravelManagers’ National Conference focused on “Creating Value” something one of their personal travel managers clearly demonstrated to external motivational keynote speaker Robyn Pearce. A time management specialist from New Zealand, Ms Pearce was speaking on work-life balance and was so impressed with personal travel manager Kim Mason that she wrote about her in the column she provides to New Zealand’s major daily newspaper, the New Zealand Herald.

Ms Pearce says that it was a privilege to speak at TravelManagers’ conference with Kim being a real standout for her personally.

“I was very impressed with how Kim structured her day to ensure she achieved both her work and personal goals. In fact I was so encouraged by her that I involved Kim during my presentation inviting her up onto the stage to the share the secrets of her success.”

Ms Pearce says she spoke to a number of their personal travel managers prior to the conference as part of her research and it was as a result of these discussions that she discovered Kim’s rewarding approach to time management.

“TravelManagers invest significantly in their personal travel managers ensuring they have the skills and the tools in order to truly achieve work-life balance. Speaking to the personal travel managers it was obvious this was paying off. They’re an impressive company and have managed to achieve the structure of a company but the support more like that of a family. There was tremendous spirit and energy, it was infectious to be around.”

Ms Pearce says the combination of external and internal speakers that included personal travel managers demonstrates great management.

“To me this shows that management are very respectful of their personal travel managers and place a huge amount of value on them sharing their skills and experience but also their frustrations. The workshops provided an opportunity for personal travel managers to discuss any difficulties they were facing but to also help each other with solutions, through sharing their experiences. The atmosphere in the room was one of openness, care and willingness to share and support from highly professional people.”

Ms Pearce says she came away from the conference inspired.

“I speak at a number of conferences but I can honestly say this one stood out in my mind as one of the most dynamic I’ve ever been at. I was so motivated I wrote about them and particularly Kim in my New Zealand Herald column the following week.”
