Industry specialist appointed to manage Accident and Health Insurance Portfolio

Thursday, 15 December 2011

Allianz Global Assistance has appointed specialist underwriter Richard Regan to manage their Accident and Health Insurance portfolio.

Regan’s appointment coincides with Allianz Global Assistance’s partnership earlier this year with Allianz Australia Insurance Limited (Allianz) to sell Accident and Health insurance products through Allianz broker market channels.

Allianz Global Assistance CEO Ian Norris said Regan’s appointment was a vital step in supporting the overwhelming demand for their Accident and Health insurance products and their significant growth in this market.

“As a specialist accident and health underwriter, Richard brings over 10 years industry experience to this role, which will have a dedicated focus on meeting the needs of our clients in this sector,” Norris said.

“Primarily, Richard will be responsible for managing the overall portfolio experience from developing our current suite of products, to identifying market needs and product development opportunities, right through to being responsible for broker and client education and underwriter training, mentoring and development.”

Richard has worked in a number of prominent insurance organisations during his career including underwriting roles at SRS Underwriting Agency, Accident and Health International, Zurich Financial Services Australia and Insurance Australia Group.

Allianz Global Assistance currently provides Corporate Travel and Personal Accident Insurance to employees of small, medium and large companies travelling domestically and internationally.

These products include Corporate Travel and Personal Accident Insurance and Expatriate Medical Protection Insurance.

All Corporate Travel Insurance policies include annual cover for employees while travelling for business domestically and overseas, flexible cover options, access to professional medical and claims services, cover for pre-existing conditions and the ability to design corporate policies to individual corporate requirements.

Allianz Global Assistance, part of the Allianz Group, with operations in 28 countries, recently announced a consolidated turnover of 1.892 billion euros (A$2.53 billion) representing growth from the previous year. A 17% increase in net profit, or 67.2 million euros (A$89.9 million), accompanied revenue growth.
