Virgin takes technology to the skies

Friday, 16 December 2011

Travellers aboard Virgin Australia can expect a state of-the-art inflight entertainment system to connect with hand-held devices and laptops on its aircraft as early as mid next year.

Virgin Australia group of airlines is collaborating with Lufthansa Systems, signing a letter of intent to produce and install the systems providing guests with a range of products including video and audio streaming delivered on demand to personal entertainment devices or Wi-Fi enabled laptops.

Group executive product and guest services, Martin Daley explained the product combined with the new Business Class and Economy Class cabin environment will further enhance the traveller’s inflight experience.

“Our new entertainment system will provide guests with more options than ever before to tailor their inflight entertainment experience to their personal tastes along with the freedom to choose how and when they access inflight entertainment,” Mr Daley said.

With more people carrying their own devices, this new technology puts the airline at the forefront of technology.
