Win for Qantas short haul staff

Friday, 16 December 2011

Qantas short haul cabin crew are in favour of the new three year agreement reached with the Flight Attendants Association of Australia’s Domestic / Regional Division (FAAA), ensuring competitive salary and employment conditions.

Since recent industrial disputes with the airline, this is the first enterprise bargaining agreement reached, applying to around 2,150 flight attendants and customer service managers.

Qantas Group Executive Operations Lyell Strambi said Qantas was a great employer, offering excellent opportunities and pay conditions for employees and the airline was pleased with the new agreement.

“We have been able to negotiate a good outcome with the FAAA, providing a 3 per cent pay increase each year for three years as well as some changes to increments and improved flexibility for Qantas,” Mr Strambi said.

Although the arbitration process with the pilots’ union, licensed engineers’ union and Transport Workers Union continues before Fair Work Australia, the airline is pushing the message to customers that they can continue to book Qantas flights with confidence.
