“Evenings is Alice is a themed progressive dinner with entertainment based on the history and characters of the town,” said Kathy Graham, the owner of the SEIT Outback Australia, a family owned company specialising in unique tourism experiences in Central Australia. “Alice Springs needs something to offer locals and visitors over the summer months, something different, something exceptional and something that will assist businesses to keep moving forward over a very challenging time of year – and we think Evenings in Alice is just the activity to do this.” With tourism in Central Australia at an all time low, Mrs Graham and her husband Brett aim to involve as many businesses as possible in Evenings in Alice to ensure there are benefits for everyone. “We have created two themed Evenings in Alice which I know will delight audiences, whether they are locals or tourists,” says Mrs Graham. Evenings in Alice starts on Thursday the 12th of January with Evenings in Alice – Infamous Miss Pink, a night with the indomitable Olive Pink, botanist, anthropologist and champion of Aboriginal rights whose outrageous actions will entertain and amuse. On Saturday the 14th of January Evenings in Alice – Scandalous Crimes commences and offers tales of the Alice Springs Gaol and its villainous inhabitants. “Evenings in Alice will run weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays from January through to March,” says Mrs Graham, “and we hope to build on these first two Evenings in Alice with other themed events that expose more of the stories of our town and the characters who lived, worked and loved here.” |
