The elegant cruise liner Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) will once again lower the gangplanks and welcome the well-heeled and bow tie wearing guests for an exclusive grand New Years Eve bash in her new home of Dubai. Arriving in its final port of Dubai more than 3 years ago, the Queen Elizabeth 2 will for the first time be open to the public for such an event. A limited number of invitation only guests including royals, dignitaries, celebrities and VIPs will grace the decks of the QE2 in the black tie event being described as one of the most exclusive New Year celebrations in the world. However, if the price is right you can purchase one of the limited number of exclusive tickets that go on sale this week to the general public, with a percentage of proceeds from ticket sales passed on to a local charity as reported by Emirates 24/7. “In the year in which the UAE celebrates turning 40, the QE2 also enters her 40s with a new lease of life in Dubai as a fabulous venue for a glittering start to 2012,” spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth 2, Leili Gerami said. Launched in 1967 by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II herself, the cruise liner has made at least 26 round-the-world voyages and ran the transatlantic service from her home port of Southampton, UK, to New York, USA, breaking many records, including that of the longest serving flagship in the Cunard Fleet. |
