Travelling pets

More people are travelling with their favorite pet these days with Virgin Atlantic revealing it is now transporting more pets between different countries than ever before.

Whether it is to go on holidays or relocation to another country, more dogs are being checked in and leaving the UK with their owners.

Virgin Atlantic provides a pet travel scheme, an initiative that has been a huge success since 2003 seeing a 1,500 per cent increase in animals that travel in the cargo hold of its aircraft.

Cats are also a popular travelling companion, with a 325 per cent increase in the number of these animals being moved using Virgin's services.

Virgin transported more than 800 dogs and cats in 2011.
