Peru will welcome its first ever Courtyard by Marriott hotel in 2013 with the announcement of the development of the Courtyard by Marriott Lima in the San Isidro district of the Peruvian capital. Under a management agreement with Inversiones La Rioja, S.A., owners of the JW Marriott Lima, and the new JW Marriott Cusco, the high-rise property will market itself to both the business and leisure traveler. “We have 18 Courtyards operating and 11 in the pipeline in the region, and the brand has done particularly well in Mexico and Central America,” Marriott International Caribbean and Latin America chief development officer Laurent de Kousemaeker said. “We are happy to see interest for this upper moderate hotel brand in South America, where we consider strong growth demand in this segment.” With 150 rooms, the Courtyard by Marriott Lima will feature the brand’s distinctive business lobby highlighted by its contemporary design, flexible space, and unique GoBoard technology – a 55-inch interactive touch screen filled with local information, maps, weather, and news, business and sports headlines. “We are excited about our hotel’s opening next year in Cusco and felt Lima needed a quality midmarket product,” Inversiones La Rioja, S.A. president Alfonso Brazzini said. “Courtyard by Marriott seems like a perfect combination.” Due for completion this year is the boutique-style, 160-room JW Marriott Cusco, which is being built around Inca remains found on its site. |
