If I could do it all over, I’d certainly make Fiji my Schoolies destination.

Not only for the endless sprawl of white sand, crystal blue seas and sizzling sunsets, but for the opportunity to live carefree for a week, amongst your peers and in an environment that is specifically designed to cater to your every need and desire.

I was fortunate enough to spend seven days exploring the three Fijian islands of Beachcomber, Plantation and Mana, with hundreds of school leavers enjoying their international schoolies holiday.

I remember staying up until the wee hours of the morning, enjoying music on the beach and admiring the energy and endurance of these high-school honourees. It was clear they were having the time of their lives.

“I did so much yesterday, I went kayaking, sailing, snorkelling and that was all before lunch!” said Erica, 17, from Parramatta.

There are plenty of daily activities and nightly entertainment is on overload, with events such as the infamous black & white night, freaks & geeks party and the ever popular gender bender.

When I finished school in 2003, I ventured to the Gold Coast for a week of madness. Although it was fun, there was a lack of organisation, understanding and reliability that I found ever-present amongst the island staff and Unleashed crew in Fiji.
