Former travel agent, Mrs. Zara Holtz, celebrated her 100th birthday aboard Norwegian Sky during the ship’s New Year’s cruise last week.

A resident of Fort Lauderdale, Mrs. Holtz was sailing with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren who were surprised with a host of special celebrations arranged by Norwegian Cruise Line.

More than 2,000 guests were invited to a ‘Sailaway Party’ with a difference, where master ice carver Ronaldo carved a giant block of ice into the numeral “100” before the guest of honour was presented with a cake and sung happy birthday by fellow passengers, officers and crew.

Mrs. Holtz shared her surprise at reaching a centenary and wished that everyone could celebrate their birthday on a cruise with specific mention of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Following the on-deck festivities, the captain, officers and crew invited Mrs. Holtz and her family to ‘Cagney’s Steakhouse’ for a special birthday dinner.
