Sydney Airport website has launch a page specifically for plane enthusiasts, who can connect with like minded plane spotters in a virtual community, sharing photos of aircraft and information on best viewing spots.

Sydney Airport chief executive Kerrie Mather said plane spotters at the airport were common, with hundreds of plane lovers showing up to witness the Boeing 787 Dreamliner test flight land.

The website is full of aircraft information, pictures of models, aircraft tracking, runways, security and restricted areas as well as links to radio frequencies, all in an aim for users to communicate the best vantage points for viewing.

A free iPhone app is available for Sydney Airport which details landing schedules with real time departure and arrival information.  This along with the new website will allow plane spotters up to date information to get the best out of their viewing.

“We want to deepen our engagement with the community and we hope plane-spotters like the website and let us know their feedback,” Ms Mather said.

To visit the webpage, go to www.sydneyairport.com.au/corporate/community-environment-and-planning/aviation-community.aspx  or to submit a picture, email yssy.planespotter@syd.com.au.
