Online travel booking platform Skiddoo has announced its arrival in a big way, offering one lucky Facebook fan and three of their closest friends the music festival experience of a lifetime.

Launched to coincide with Skiddoo’s Sydney Festival sponsorship, the competition offers free flights, four-star accommodation and festival passes (package valued at $24,000) to Fuji Rock in Japan, Lollapalooza in Chicago and Splendour in the Grass on the Gold Coast.

Entry into the competition is simple. Facebook users merely have to “Like” Skiddoo on Facebook and nominate three friends as cheap, easy and fun – the three core benefits of using Skiddoo. The competition will conclude on January 29, 2012.

Skiddoo founder Mirza Juddani said the competition was a great fit to promote the company’s new travel platform, which has been specifically designed to plug into the booming social media scene.

“Because social media plays such a huge role in the everyday life of many Australians it’s important to develop a social connection between Skiddoo’s online offering and our computer-savvy, socially-aware target audience,” Mr Juddani said.

“The biggest growth in the travel sector will happen online with simple, easy-to-use websites that, like Skiddoo, tap into the social element of people’s lives,” he said.

Mr Juddani said Skiddoo’s alignment with Sydney Festival took social engagement one step further by providing opportunities to encourage an online connection with the public and build awareness of Skiddoo’s service and benefits.

“We’ve got a terrific line up of activities at the festival, from a Skiddoo Departure Lounge in Hyde Park’s Festival Garden (where fans who “check-in” have the chance to win $2000 to spend online at Skiddoo) to giant beach balls that will be launched from the stage in the Domain,” he said.

“Festival-goers who are snapped by our roaming photographer and who then tag their picture on Facebook will also have the chance to win a variety of great spot prizes and travel vouchers.”
