Niseko Village Is Ranked Japan's Number One Ski Resort

Thursday, 12 January 2012

Ski enthusiasts across the world have reinforced Niseko Village as the world's top ski destination by voting for the ski resort online and ranking it as number one in Japan.

Voting is conducted on the website Snow Japan, www.snowjapan.com, where voters have several aspects to rank out of 100, including Lift System, Courses/Terrain, Apres Ski, Snow Conditions and a General Score. After voting, an average is determined with all the other participants’ votes and a score is calculated with Niseko Village claiming the highest average score to rank as Japan's number one ski resort.

Located at the base of Mount Niseko An'nupuri in Hokkaido, Japan, The Green Leaf Niseko Village enjoys a growing international reputation which can be credited to not only its excellent skiing facilities but also the resort's inspiring interiors. Designed by acclaimed interior design firm Champalimaud Design, the hotel also recently won the renowned Best Hotel Interior Japan award at the International Hotel Awards 2011 in association with Bloomberg. The design reflects a contemporary style which embraces the creative artwork of well known Japanese artist Emi Shiratori.

Managing Director of Iponics Japan which owns the website Snow Japan, Andrew Lea, says “The votes for the rankings on SnowJapan are completely independent and made by all of the people who use our website - ranging from families with small children to individual travellers, beginners to extreme snow riders. The Niseko region consistently ranks as one of the most popular snow areas in Japan with an increasingly high profile and reputation amongst international skiers and snowboarders, and this trend seems set to continue.”

The achievement of ranking as the number one ski resort in Japan continues to add to the list of accolades The Green Leaf Niseko Village has achieved since opening its doors in December 2010. Acknowledged as possessing the world's finest powder snow on the resort's very doorstep, Niseko Village enjoyed record amounts of snowfall this past December with an average of 17.4cm per day, making it the perfect winter. The award-winning ski-in ski-out resort is a favourite amongst skiers, a sentiment which has been cemented by Snow Japan's online ranking system.
