Got the post-Celebrity blues? Wondering what to do now Dougie, Mark, Fatima and the gang have all gone home?
How about giving it a go yourself?
Gold Coast tourism chiefs have got together with gapyear.com and Qantas to create an exciting video-based social media competition. Six lucky entrants will win a fun-packed trip to the sub-tropical rainforest where the hit TV show is filmed.
The six will fly from the UK courtesy of Qantas. Once in Australia, they?ll stay at the famous Palazzo Versace hotel where the ITV celebrities stay when not in the jungle, and get to hang out on the famous surfing beaches of Australia?s Gold Coast.
But it?s not all holiday. The lucky six will also face their own bush tucker trials. The winner, the Backpacker King or Queen of the Jungle, will walk away with a Grand Mystery Prize.
To bag your flight to the jungle, all you need to do is create a one-minute video (on a phone is fine) explaining why you?ve got what it takes to win the Backpacker crown. The six winners will be the entrants with the most „Likes? on YouTube.
Daisy Ashworth, backpacker and early competition entrant, says:
“This competition gives people like me the opportunity to experience something only a handful of people will ever get to do.
“I really want to go back to Australia and if I can do that being part of an amazing competition like this then I'm going to try and be part of it.”
Andrew Tipp, spokesperson for gapyear.com, says:
“I can?t believe we?re sending six backpackers out to experience the Gold Coast! This is a brilliant competition and we?re starting to see lots of positive and enthusiastic engagement with the contest on social media.
“This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring travellers and a great way for all of us at gapyear.com to kick-off 2012.”
Tommy Davis, spokesperson for Gold Coast Tourism, says:
“The „I?m A Backpacker? competition will give six lucky winners the chance to explore all that Australia?s Gold Coast has to offer. What better way to see the world than by making some new friends in the jungle?
“All the winners can extend their stay after the competition allowing them the opportunity to undertake the numerous experiences that the Gold Coast has to offer. “ |
