Trenz set to showcase New Zealand’s best

Tuesday, 24 January 2012

After last year’s successful attendance at Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (Trenz) in Queenstown, organisers are getting ready for its anticipated return in 2012.

According to organisers, Trenz 2012 will be held at the Queenstown Events Centre over four days from 07 May 2012, odt.com.nz reported.

New Zealand’s largest international travel show will feature almost 300 exhibitors, including Tourism New Zealand, Air New Zealand, Qantas, and host region Southern Lakes have registered to exhibit at the trade show.

The trade show assists in strengthening New Zealand's tourism industry, which is worth an estimated $9.5 billion in foreign exchange each year.

Tourism Industry Association (TIA) Communications Manager Ann-Marie Johnson, of Wellington, said a range of "new elements" for Trenz this year were being created and will be disclosed closer to the event.

"Delegates at Trenz 2011 rated it 'the best Trenz yet'," Ms Johnson said.

"We aim to do even better in 2012, with exciting innovations that will help showcase the very best New Zealand has to offer our visitors."

Organisers have not yet announced their guest speakers, however had invited Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism John Key.

"To date, there has been a good level of interest from New Zealand's major visitor markets, including Australia, UK, US, China, Japan and Germany," Ms Johnson said.
