Cathay Pacific announced earlier this month the purchase of six A350-900 aircraft from Airbus to help the carrier compete on its European routes. Expecting delivery by 2016-2017, a statement released on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange read that the purchase would cost up to HK$12.698 billion and would help the carrier “replenish and expand fleet capacity”. “They will principally serve long-haul destination in Europe,” the statement read. “Airbus Aircraft will deliver improved payload range capability at competitive operating costs whilst providing high standards of passenger comfort and safety.” |
