Almost a year after suspending flights due to ongoing violence, British Airways has announced it will resume flights between London and Tripoli, Libya from 1 May this year. The three times a week service departing Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays will resume after the carrier conducted thorough security reviews alongside the UK Government and Libyan authorities. “We are delighted to be returning to Libya,” British Airways chief executive Keith Williams said. “Our flights to Tripoli have provided a vital economic link for many years, and it is good news for everyone that we can now restart operations.” Meanwhile earlier this month Etihad also announced it would launch flights into the city, making it the only Middle Eastern carrier to service the region. |
