Garuda increase on Asia Pacific, reduces Europe

Friday, 27 January 2012

Garuda Indonesia will reduce flights to Europe as of March 2012 and increase flights to the Asia Pacific region to cater for the growth of market by broadening its network.

A declining European market due to the downturn in economic conditions has resulted in Garuda Indonesia reducing daily flights from Jakarta to Amsterdam (Europe) from seven to four times a week.

Garuda would still have a good network in Europe despite the flight frequency cuts.

Meanwhile, cashing in on the economic growth of the Asia Pacific region, the airline has increase flight frequencies and continues to grow its network in the region.

Flights on the Jakarta to Shanghai and Seoul now operate daily, with the Jakarta to Beijing service increasing from three times to five times a week.  The national flag carrier will soon introduce new services, namely Denpasar to Tokyo (Haneda) which will be effective on 27 April 2012, and Jakarta to Taipei which will be effective on 19 May 2012.

In October last year Garuda Indonesia increased flight frequency from Denpasar to Sydney to seven times a week, the Jakarta to Melbourne service from three times to four times a week and Denpasar to Melbourne from four times to five times a week.
