Choice Hotels Australasia (Choice) announced that its Chief Executive Officer of the past six years, David Bayes, has decided to step down and leave the company at the end of March to focus on Non-Executive Director opportunities.

He will be replaced by Trent Fraser, currently in a senior leadership role as Choice’s General Manager Development and Franchise Services.  Trent has been with the company for eight years.

Announcing the changes, Choice Hotels International’s Senior Vice-President, International Division, Mark Pearce, said that under David’s leadership the Choice brands have gained significant presence in Australia and New Zealand.

“David has been working with me to ensure that we have a seamless transfer of leadership within the organisation. He has earned the respect of both his team, and the Franchisee community at large.”

Mr Pearce said he was very pleased with Trent Fraser’s decision to accept the CEO’s role, adding:

“I’ve had the privilege to work with Trent over the past eight years and he has played an integral role in the overall growth and success of Choice.

“Trent brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position which he will leverage as we continue to expand our brand representation in the marketplace.”

Mr Pearce said the timing of this transition is ideal, as both David and Trent will attend Choice’s annual February-March round of state meetings as part of the leadership transition process.
