The end of the school holidays doesn’t mean talk of a vacation has to come to an end, and Queensland
Rail Travel is happy to oblige with cheap fares to some great tourist destinations, but you’ll have to B-Quick
about it.
From now until February 5, Queensland Rail Travel is offering customers savings of up to 49% on regular
fares with its B-Quick sale.
It’s the perfect time to jump on board, with a B-Quick economy seat from Brisbane to Cairns just $129, or
for those wanting to explore the Outback, you can get to Longreach for $109.
Queensland Rail Travel General Manager, Max Kruse, said the fares are ideal for customers who don’t
need to travel during the peak holiday periods.
“If you’re looking to get away when there aren’t so many people in the tourist centres of the state, then this
is the perfect time to travel,” Mr Kruse said.
“If you can be flexible with your travel dates, then we’re prepared to be a whole lot more flexible on price,
as these B-Quick fares show.
“Customers can get anywhere up or down the coast for under $130, and there are fares which are 49% off
their normal price, so it’s an excellent time to pick and destination and just go.
“This is one of several promotions run by Queensland Rail Travel, including the hugely successful All the
holiday you can take campaign, and they appear to be paying off with outstanding sales figures over the
Christmas holiday period.
“Over those two weeks, our passenger numbers leapt 46% on the previous Christmas period, while
revenue jumped a massive 120%.
“This shows train travel is becoming increasingly popular with both tourists and Queenslanders travelling
intrastate.”
The cheapest tickets on sale are the $34 fares available for travel between Maryborough to Brisbane.
Other prices from the state capital include; Hervey Bay for just $49, including a coach connection; just $69
to Rockhampton; while a trip to Townsville and the tropics is only $109.
Customers who want to travel in sleeping cabins haven’t been forgotten; upgrades are available for just
$66 for passengers heading to Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach, Emerald and Longreach.
The step up to business class is almost as cheap, with some bargains to be found with B-Quick business
seats on the Cairns Tilt train.
“It doesn’t matter where you’re travelling to or from in Queensland, we’ll be able to find you a great deal
until the sale finishes,” Mr Kruse said.
The sale ends on February 5 and the fares can be used for travel between February 13 and March 29.
