Leila Fiedler, managing director of Australia’s oldest and largest business events company Destination Marketing Services (DMS) said that the industry is facing one of the fiercest trading environments on record and, there is now intense pressure on destination management companies to deliver innovation. Speaking during preparations for the upcoming DMS Annual Workshops scheduled to take place in Sydney and Melbourne on 16 & 20 February 2012, Ms Fielder said that “new and creative” was the constant request from PCOs and incentive agents. “The corporate end users are really pushing for an edge and often they will tender the brief out to multiple event planning companies as a means of trawling for the best ideas. As a result our destination management companies (DMCs) are responding with extremely creative proposals, new and different destinations and more and more high end inclusions and CSR activities,” she said. Ms Fiedler said that the 18 DMCs participating in this year’s workshops would be featuring significantly expanded programs including new event spaces, event concepts, off-site touring options and team building activities. The DMS Workshops are a highly regarded fixture on the industry trade events calendar, dovetailing with AIME but giving Australian and New Zealand clients unique opportunities to access most of the top international DMCs in a free flowing format in the easy comfort of one room. Regions being represented include Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America. In 2012 DMS will celebrate its 20th anniversary and a special luncheon will be a feature of the workshops. Sponsors are joining in the celebratory atmosphere offering fantastic door prizes, which will be drawn throughout the Workshops courtesy of Emirates, South African Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Malaysia Airlines Dates: Registration The DMS Annual Workshops are by invitation only. |
