Aeromexico – Phoenix to Hermosillo – Economy

Wednesday, 1 February 2012

I had been told to expect a “muy bien” flight with Aeromexico – I wasn’t disappointed.

Flight Details
AM464 operated by Aeromexico
Embraer RJ145
Seat 12C (window) Economy

Check in
With only an hour in transit at Phoenix, I had the unenviable task of having to change terminals, check-in for my outbound flight and navigate security before making my departure. Aeromexico held up their end of the bargain by checking me through politely and promptly. TSA, please take note.

Luggage Allowance Aeromexico offers a complimentary checked baggage allowance of 50 lbs (23 kgs) per person. A plane-side ‘valet’ service for larger carry-on bags (on smaller jets) allows passengers to avoid checking luggage in – a definite plus.

Cabin conditions
The small cabin (1-2 seat formation) was ultra comfortable, making the flight seem even shorter than its hour-long duration. An exit row seat allowed for more legroom than had been expected as well.

Customer service Warm – a sign of the service to come in Mexico. The sole attendant made sure we had the right papers for swift entry into the country, enquiring into the status of our stay with genuine concern.

Entertainment
Escala Inflight Magazine with translations into English and French. And the beautiful views over Mexico’s Sonora State.

Meal Service
A variety of non-alcoholic beverages (I had the tasty, and very dark looking apple juice) served with lime and pepper coated peanuts. Please sir, can I have some more? Seriously good...

On time performance Punctual. Clearly, Aeromexico doesn’t adhere to the norms, and charms, of “Mexican time” (read a little late).

My favourite thing
It could have been just about anything. But the winner is … the service. From check-in until disembarkment, Aeromexico make you feel right at home. I wish flying was always this easy.
