Aeromexico 464 – Hermosillo to Phoenix – Economy

Thursday, 2 February 2012

The silver liveried Aeromexico jet

The Mexican flag carrier passes the test, with flying colours.

Flight Details AM464 operated by Aeromexico Embraer RJ145 Seat 16C (window) Economy

Check in Friendly, as I had come to expect of all service in this hospitable nation. And General Ignacio Pesqueira García International Airport (Hermosillo Airport to you and I) understands the importance of a clean and efficient airport to the first-time visitor of a destination. Overall, a well-left impression.

Luggage Allowance As is the norm for all Aeromexico flights to/from the U.S. and Canada, the carrier grants 50 lbs (23 kgs) per person free of charge. A plane-side ‘valet’ service for larger carry-on bags (on small jets) was utilized by this happy passenger.

Cabin conditions The small but comfortable cabin (1-2 seat formation) made for a cozy journey back to the States. And the intimate environment allowed for easy mingling between friends (perhaps to the chagrin of the sleepy passengers behind).

Customer service Despite the confines that our attendant was forced to work within, our stewardess Smiles were given and returned in kind. It really is the simple things that stand out.

Entertainment Bring your own, with the exception of the Escala Inflight Magazine and the tales of shared adventures in Sonora State.

Meal Service A selection of sparkling and still beverages, including a nice apple juice (quaffed in record time), and delicious lime and pepper coated peanuts. A larger packet would have really won me over.

On time performance A few minutes early allowing for a little extra time to make that connecting flight to San Francisco. Thank you, Aeromexico.

My favourite thing The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. In this case, it was the nuts. Nice.
