The Dubai Department of Commerce Tourism and Marketing has launched a new Facebook page catering to both the Australian and New Zealand market.  This marks the first major step of the company’s social media strategy for increasing awareness of Dubai as the ideal holiday destination for tech savvy users in the online sphere.

Commenting on the launch of the Facebook page, Julie King, Director of the DTCM Australia and New Zealand Representative Office said:  “Dubai Tourism is dedicated to providing more online interactive avenues for travellers and trade alike, to seek information and support.”

“Industry feedback indicated that an online presence from Dubai Tourism would be welcomed. Our research has found that 62% of Australians use social media and that Facebook dwarfs all other social media usage. We have responded to this by introducing and maintaining a Facebook page which is regularly updated with the very latest news and openings in Dubai that would appeal to our visitors to Dubai as well as the travel trade supporting us.”

Fans of the Facebook page will see photographs and videos of popular tourist spots, and will gain recommendations with updates on new restaurants, hotels and captivating attractions and also receive travel tips and suggestions for our various market segments.  For additional information and to receive the latest news on the city, Dubai Tourism is inviting the trade to join the page by ‘liking’ www.facebook.com/dtcm.anz.

As an additional incentive, regular competitions and promotions will be shared on the Facebook page. This month, visitors to the Dubai Tourism Facebook page will find a Lonely Planet competition to win a trip for two, flying with Emirates and with five nights accommodation at the Shangri La Hotel in Dubai.
