CHC mourns quake anniversary

Wednesday, 22 February 2012

Residence will gather around Christchurch city today to remember the 185 losses and the devastating structural damage after the 6.3 magnitude quake struck its city exactly a year ago today.

Held at the Latimer Square today, New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key will be in attendance along with five senior ministers to reflect on what the region lost while also inspiring hope on the city’s future, reflecting on all they have achieved despite the devastation.

A two-minute silence will also take place at 12.51pm local time - the exact time the earthquake struck a year ago.

Meanwhile locals have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the day, many saddened while some hopeful for the future.
