Tiger Airways has shaped up its performance since its Australian operations were suspended last year, achieving the highest level of on time departures for the month of January. A Department of Infrastructure and Transport report found that low-cost carrier was the most punctual of all the major domestic airlines for the first month of the year with 89.3 percent of its flights leaving on time. Following closely in second place was Australia’s flag carrier, Qantas with 89.1 percent of its flight on time while Virgin Australia and Jetstar managed to achieve 79.8 percent and 72.1 percent in punctual departures. In total up to 81 percent of flights taking off in Australia were on time, 79.4 percent arrivals were punctual and Aussies only experienced 1.2 percent of cancellations on scheduled flights. Of the regional carriers, Regional Express topped the list with 89.2 percent of on time departures followed by Skywest with 83.2 percent and QantasLink with 80.9 percent. |
