Attracting a tourist market of salty sea dogs and amateur boaties, Queensland’s Season of Sailing is off and racing after the launch at Southport Yacht Club on the Gold Coast by young ambassador Jessica Watson.
Promoting ‘Racey days and cruisey nights’, the $100,000 concept was launched three years ago and promotes a calendar of sailing events that will take place up the Queensland Coast as far as North Queensland.
Offering a thrilling line up of maritime events, the Season of Sailing is not just for the seasoned sailor, but gives everyone the opportunity to get out on the water and experience some of Queensland’s best natural assets.
The state will be on show, from the Gold & Sunshine Coast in the South East to the Whitsundays and Southern Great Barrier Reef as far up as Townsville in the North, with the Queensland’s 2012 Season of Sailing featuring in sailing magazines, newspapers around the country, online and via social media as well as eNewsletter and in-club promotions via Yachting Australia’s members.
Jessica Watson said at the launch earlier this week that “Sailing is something that everyone must try at least once in their lives and Queensland offers the best locations for learners all the way through to experienced yachtsmen to explore by boat.” |
