Travelscene Corporate has announced the resounding success of its annual Corporate Symposium held on 4 – 5 May 2012 at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok. The event saw the largest ever representation of Members and preferred suppliers and underlined the significant strength of Australia’s leading independent corporate travel network.

Themed ‘Beyond Success’, the conference’s keynote speakers included Capt. Richard de Crespigny with his first-ever address to the travel industry. Dubbed “Captain Fantastic”, Capt. de Crespigny described his incredible feat of successfully landing the Qantas A380, Nancy Bird Walton, after the aircraft suffered an engine explosion in November 2010. The Travelscene Symposium was Capt. de Crespigny’s first public appearance since ferrying the repaired aircraft to Australia and back into service last month.

MC Dan Gregory, marketing guru and regular on ABC’s The Gruen Transfer, kept the delegates entertained while challenging the traditional view of travel marketing, while presenters Peter Baines, Phil Ruthven and Tim Longhurst captivated delegates with their latest views on making a difference, the economy and what the future of travel might hold.

David Padman, Travelscene Corporate General Manager stated that the quality of content shared by speakers and delegates alike, and the insights gained by all attendees, contributed to making the event the most successful the group has ever held.

“The definition of success is different to everyone, but our 2012 Corporate Symposium was a stunning success by any measure. As a Network, we are only as strong as our Members, and it is vital that we continue to raise the bar for ourselves and our industry, improving how we communicate, share ideas and work together to maintain and grow our position as Australia’s leading corporate travel Network.” In closing the conference, Mr. Padman highlighted the importance for Members to continue their focus on what has made them Australia’s most successful corporate travel network. “This conference comes at an ideal time. Individually and as a group, our members are going from strength to strength. In an ever-changing world, Travelecene Corporate Members have demonstrated a proven ability to not only manage change, but to turn it to their advantage. We believe our Network’s unwavering focus on delivering value for clients is the key to sustaining success in any environment, no matter how challenging,” Mr. Padman said.

Rising to the challenge in particular, were three Travelscene Corporate Members nominated for the prestigious Innovators Award – which formally recognises leading innovations within the group.

Melbourne-based Reho Travel claimed the trophy, while MTA Mobile Travel Agents and Spencer Travel rounded out the top 3.

“Congratulations to Reho Travel for their pioneering Customer Client Approval Tool which has resulted in winning tenders, securing business and growing revenue. I was delighted by the quality of innovation exhibited across the entire Network. It gives me particular pleasure to recognize the high calibre achieved by the finalists. Such initiatives continue to enable us to support our Members and their clients, and will underpin the long-term growth, resilience and success of the Travelscene Corporate network.”
