Flight Review: Dubai to Sydney - Business Class - EK 412

Emirates A380

Flight details:
Emirates (EK 412). Dubai to Sydney, 04 April 2012. Seat: 19J. Business Class.

Check-in and luggage allowance:
I arrived at Dubai International Airport approximately 90 minutes prior to departure.

I had the option to check-in online but instead decided to head to the business class counter to deposit my bag. The Emirates staff were incredibly professional and delightfully upbeat.

My checked luggage was well below the allowance weight of 30kg.

Economy seat/cabin conditions:
This was my second time flying Emirates on the A380 and also my second experience of business class aboard the silent travelling aircraft.

The cabin crew were impressive and alert, always willing to lend a helping hand to any customer in need and kindly directed me to my comfortable seat.
The 1-2-1 seat configuration of business class, on the upper deck, offers a generous 48 inch pitch and 180 degree flat-bed option, proving to be one of the most enjoyable flight arrangements and seating options I’ve ever experienced.

Customer service:
Although I’d indulged in the luxury of business class on my trip over to Dubai, it was just as special coming home.

The cabin crew sought to tend to my every need, providing blankets, comforters and other sleeping paraphernalia, allowing me to drift off peacefully and with ease.

Meal and snack service:
A number of meals were served throughout the duration of the flight and were delicious and tasty. Exclusive liquors, cocktails and beers were also provided at the rear of the plane in lounge bar, along with light snacks and canapés.

Entertainment:
I’ve always been an advocate of Emirates’ ICE entertainment system as it rarely disappoints, is constantly updated with the latest technology, games, films and television shows and coupled with the oversized screens provided in Business Class, I couldn’t ask for a better back-of-seat system while flying.

On-time performance:
The flight departed on time and arrived in sunny Sydney in similar fashion.
