It was announced today that hospitality professional and entrepreneur, Andreas Breitfuss has departed Tower Estate as its General Manager. During his three year tenure, Breitfuss’s role included the prestigious position as Maître de Maison of the gold standard, 5 star Tower Lodge | Relais & Chateaux, General Manager of Peppers Convent, creator of the restaurant Nine and the General Manager of Roberts Restaurant.
Breitfuss recently returned from a successful mountaineering expedition in the Himalayas, where he summited Mount Everest on 19th May 2012. It was this recent experience that led to Breitfuss’s decision to depart Tower Estate and seek new challenges within the hospitality industry.
During Breitfuss’ time with Tower Estate, he led the organisation to its pinnacle, winning several local, national and international hotel and restaurant awards. “The highlight of my time with Tower Lodge was accepting the award at the 2010 World Luxury Hotel Awards for the Best Luxury Lodge in the World. I strive for excellence so to be presented with this award was very exciting,” comments Breitfuss. “There are many hospitality and conceptual challenges waiting for me ahead so I’m looking forward to conquering these and bringing these to the top of their game.”
As the creator of Tower Lodge’s unique and prestigious Nine restaurant, Breitfuss designed and implemented a new level of dining experience for the Hunter Valley. The signature degustation restaurant, located nine feet underground, won several local and national awards including the Best Restaurant in a Winery at the 2011 Savour National Restaurant & Catering Awards.
“It’s always hard to leave a place that you created from initial concept into an award-winning experience,” comments Breitfuss. “It’s like giving away your child. But my focus is on guests and creating new, leading experiences for them. Whilst I’m sad to be saying goodbye to this incredible chapter of my life, it’s equally as exciting to start with a blank page for my next one.”
