Virgin Australia has launched a new ‘mobile boarding pass’, that will allow domestic travellers flying to mainline ports to use their smartphones at the departure gate. The new system allows passengers to access the Virgin Australia mobile website, click the check-in features which will send the guest their boarding pass via an SMS. After receiving the text travellers can then display the mobile board pass at the departure gate before boarding the flight. The carrier’s group executive of brand and customer experience Mark Hassell said the mobile system would provide a “seamless travel experience” for the airline’s guests, through the convenience of accessing information via a mobile device. "Our new app for iPhone links seamlessly to new features on the Virgin Australia mobile website, taking guests through every stage of the travel journey,” he explained. “For guests with carry-on luggage only, this means the ability to skip the check-in counter and board the flight simply by scanning their smartphone at the gate.” According to the customer experience head, the company is continuously looking at technological alternatives to create “even more seamless travel” for its passengers. |
