AIR FRANCE KLM, one of the world’s largest airline groups, is targeting Australia’s resources industry with a new campaign to build awareness of flights to Africa’s main oil, gas and mining exploration regions. Together with partner airlines, Air France KLM serves 52 destinations in Africa, and continues to increase flights to major resources markets, most recently adding daily services by Air France between Paris and Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

“Many exploration companies operating in Australia, and suppliers serving those companies, have significant links with oil, gas and mining activities in Africa,” said Tom Reeves, Regional Manager Australia and New Zealand for Air France KLM.

“We are targeting those companies to highlight our excellent flight connections from Australia to Africa’s key resource exploration regions, travelling via our European hubs in Paris and Amsterdam,” said Mr Reeves. “We have introduced very competitive pricing from Australia, specifically for resources companies, and we offer Flying Blue Petroleum, a dedicated rewards programme for frequent fliers in the mining, oil and gas sectors.”

Air France and KLM together offer more than 110 departures per week from Australia to Europe, all though code share arrangements with partner airlines including Qantas and Malaysia Airlines. KLM will offer even more services from October when three additional weekly flights commence between Kuala Lumpur and Amsterdam.

Both Air France and KLM offer codeshare departures from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, connecting with their own flights from Asia to Europe, and beyond to Africa’s mining regions. Connections are also available from Darwin, Cairns and the Gold Coast, and passengers from Papua New Guinea can join Air France and KLM in Australia.

“The resources industry is booming in both Australia and Africa, and we can connect travellers between both markets with our broad network of destinations and growing number of flights,” said Mr Reeves. “We can also meet the travel needs and budgets of individuals and corporations in Australia conducting business with oil, gas and mining enterprises in Africa’s major resource exploration regions,” he said.
