A significant project is currently underway in Ireland, known as “The Gathering Ireland 2013”. 

“The Gathering” is a year-long celebration of everything great and unique about Ireland.   It provides an opportunity to join a countrywide, citizen-led initiative to invite our Diaspora from around the world to come together and support Ireland in 2013.  The Diaspora I am referring to includes all those who have an affinity with Ireland – either through music, sport, tourism, media, business connections, and other interests, or have lived,  studied or visited there in the past. You may well be one of this group!

The year-long event aims to attract as many as 325,000 extra visitors to Ireland. A significant increase in visitor numbers which would generate €170 million in revenue to the Irish economy in 2013.

What is The Gathering?
The Gathering Ireland 2013 is an opportunity to experience Ireland at its very best.
Communities, villages and towns throughout Ireland will be organising a packed calendar of gatherings, festivals and events to welcome people with Irish connections from all over the world.  With the focus on Ireland’s vibrant, living culture, heritage and people it is a chance to experience Ireland like never before.

Everyone in Ireland is being asked to reach out to their family, friends, relatives and colleagues around the world and invite them home to be a part of these specially organised events in their honour.

There will be so much going on in 2013.  Already, there is great excitement and anticipation, with lots of Irish people at home and abroad now thinking about what they can do to be part of The Gathering Ireland 2013

How can we help make it a Success?
We are asking ‘Friends’ and ‘Family’ of Ireland from around the world to think about what you can do to support “The Gathering”.  Do you have an opportunity to influence or bring to Ireland in 2013 an event, family reunion, party, music group, golf group, conference, meeting, or a bunch of friends?  No “Gathering” is too small. Can you play a part by bringing 3 friends to Ireland in 2013?  If you have an opportunity, can you do something even bigger?
