Malaysia Airlines’ Adds Kathmandu, Nepal To Its Network

Malaysia Airlines is pleased to announce the introduction of yet another route to its network with the commencement of thrice weekly direct services between Kuala Lumpur and Kathmandu effective 1 September 2012.

From 1 September 2012, flight MH170 will depart Kuala Lumpur on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8.55am to arrive at Kathmandu at 11.30am. The return flight MH171 departs Kathmandu at 12.20pm to arrive at Kuala Lumpur at 7.15pm. Please see the below tables for the detailed flight itinerary from Australian cities, Sydney and Melbourne:-

A two-class configured Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 144 economy class seats and 16 business class seats will be used for this Kuala Lumpur-Kathmandu return service.

The introduction of the new link with Kathmandu is in line with Malaysia Airlines’ continued efforts to further strengthen its regional market presence as outlined in its Business Plan announced on 7 Dec 2011.

It is a hub for independent travelers as well as a growing vacation spot catering to all budgets. There are dozens of tourist restaurants clustered in Kathmandu’s Thamel district serving everything from Middle Eastern to Mexican food. Certainly a great holiday spot”

“We also provide very convenient flight connections between Australia and Kuala Lumpur for customers to enjoy 5-star Malaysian Hospitality by the World’s Best Cabin staff during their air-travel to Kathmandu and return on Malaysia Airlines,” added Duncan.

Nepal is situated between China and India. Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal is home to seven heritage sites listed on the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. The birthplace of the Lord Buddha, Lumbini and the Chitwan National Park is two of those sites. Scenic views of the outstanding natural beauty, a host of adventurous opportunities based on land, air and water as well as the ancient culture and heritage constitute the prime attractions of Nepal as a tourist destination. Entry visas to Kathmandu are available on arrival for Australians.
