An Enchanted Evening as Samoa Tourism Authority Partners with South Pacific the Musical

Friday, 20 July 2012

Sydney will experience an enchanted evening on the 11th of August when one of the most popular Broadway productions South Pacific will be performed in Sydney and Melbourne in the coming months, and Samoa Tourism Authority is proud to be a supporting partner of this exciting Australian season.

South Pacific is considered one of the greatest Broadway musicals, winning many awards with many of its songs such as Bali Hai, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and Some Enchanted Evening becoming popular standards. It will star Australia’s sweetheart, Lisa McCune, opera heart-throb Teddy Tahu Rhodes, songstress Kate Ceberano and the talented Eddie Perfect.

Written by the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein who also produced golden hits such as Carousel, The King and I and The Sound of Music, the musical production brought out by Opera Australia and The Gordon Frost Organisation is expected to deliver some of the biggest hits of the Australian musical season.

“We are proud to be a supporting partner of Opera Australia’s production of South Pacific,” says Michael Riddington of Samoa Tourism Authority.

“Many regard Samoa as the cradle of Polynesia, where the Polynesian culture originated.  It makes sense that the Treasured Islands partner with South Pacific and we look forward to showing audiences all around Australia what the real South Pacific is all about,” says Michael.

South Pacific will play at the Sydney Opera House from August 8 until September 9 and The Princess Theatre in Melbourne from September 13 until October 14.
