Air Pacific, Fiji’s national airline, has announced the appointment of Aubrey Swift as Chief Commercial Officer. Aubrey Swift is an experienced airline executive with over 20 years in the industry in commercial roles at British Airways, Virgin Blue and V Australia - where he helped design, launch and grow the carrier. He has worked across low cost and full service airline business models, selling direct and through all segments of the travel trade. Recently he has been consulting for airlines and airports, working on a variety of network planning strategy projects Aubrey Swift will be responsible for marketing, planning, revenue management, freight, global sales and all other commercial activities of the airline. He is taking over the role from Interim Chief Commercial Officer Subodh Karnik, who has been looking after Air Pacific’s commercial operations while the airline worked on recruiting someone of Aubrey Swift’s calibre. Subodh Karnik will continue to assist the airline with several pending and new corporate initiatives. “Aubrey brings with him a strong understanding of the South Pacific as well as an innovation and a start-up mindset that will help us build on our existing strengths, re-launch us as Fiji Airways next year, and move into our next stage of commercial evolution as we focus on more airline partnerships, more efficient distribution strategies, growing our fleet, and ultimately new destinations,” said Dave Pflieger, Air Pacific’s Managing Director & CEO. “We welcome Aubrey and his family to Air Pacific and thank Subodh for his incredible assistance during this time.” Air Pacific recently announced plans to revert to its former 1951 name, Fiji Airways, and rebrand the airline to coincide with the delivery of brand-new A330-200 aircraft that start arriving in 2013. |
