China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd (CEA) is one of the three largest airlines in China. Based in Shanghai, the most dynamic city of China, CEA has direct flights to 171 cities in China and aboard, covering China and connecting Japan & Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America and Australia.
In Feb2010, CEA completed the merge of Shanghai Airlines. As one of Asia's fastest growing airlines, with a fleet of 377 airplanes and average aircraft age just five years, CEA has become top 6 globally in terms of yearly traffic volume.
CEA currently operates daily flights from both Sydney and Melbourne to Shanghai. On Sydney - Shanghai route is operating Airbus 330-300; Boeing 767-300 is on Melbourne-Shanghai route.
CEA is the Only Chinese airline who has code share partnership with Qantas
CEA has started code share service with Qantas between Australia and China. Beside of direct flight service from Sydney and Melbourne to Shanghai, passengers can travel from other Australia and New Zealand cities to Shanghai via Sydney and Melbourne too, which include
Brisbane/Adelaide/Canberra/Cairns/Perth/Auckland/Wellington/ Christchurch; and for passengers depart from Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane/Adelaide/ Canberra/Cairns/Perth, fly to Shanghai via Singapore is another option.
- The reciprocal arrangement with Qantas frequent flyer program
CEA's Eastern Miles frequent flyer program now has a reciprocal arrangement with Qantas frequent flyer program, which means you can accumulate and redeem your points on both airlines.
- More check-in luggage allowance
Both Business and Economy passengers are entitled to two pieces of baggage, added up to 64 kg and 46 kg, and can take a free one-day tour of Shanghai.

Baggage can be through checked in to your destination for same day connecting flights; two boarding passes will be printed out upon check in at Sydney and Melbourne.
