Hainan, dubbed the Hawaii of the Far East, represents a new phase of tourism development in China and is one of the most exciting new destinations in the world. Situated on the pristine waters of the South China Sea, Hainan boasts some of the most unspoilt coastlines seen anywhere in the world. With gorgeous beaches such as Yalong Bay widely regarded as some of the finest on Earth, as well as a unique traditional culture that dates back over 2000 years, Hainan is a truly an Island of splendour.
Hainan is also home to some of the world's most exciting tourism developments, with the Chinese government pledging around 25 billion Yuans over the next 10 years to help develop the Island province. Some of these projects include, the construction of Southern Asia's first 7 star hotels, one to be built in Sanya and the other in Haikou. The new bullet train which can reach speeds of up to 280km/h, from Haikou to Sanya city, will help facilitate faster and more environmentally friendly travel around the Island. The development of the world's largest duty-free shopping area, over 7000 square metres in Hai Tang bay. As well as Hainan`s only special Visa laws, allowing free entry into Hainan for a period of up to 15 days, for people from 27 countries including, Australia and New Zealand.
Hainan International Tourism Alliance (HITA) - The Hainan International Tourism Alliance, is a newly founded semi-government organisation that has been formed to manage and promote Hainan`s tourism excellence. The HITA represents an important step forward in the development of Hainan as an International tourism destination. With a major focus on quality, the HITA has also formulated a new quality control programme, "Quality Assured by HITA", which will look to certify and ensure service excellence throughout the island. The "Quality Assured by HITA" members already include Le Meridian Shimei Bay, Mangrove Tree Resort Yalong Bay, Monkey Island, Boundary Island and many more (please contact us for a full list of members). As well as the recent launching of Hainan`s mission statement, a "Green, Clean and Sustainable Tourism", with a view to Hainan becoming a world leader in eco-tourism by 2020.
Hainan Tourism Development Commission - Founded in 1980`s is the overarching government body that controls tourism development within Hainan province. The first international headquarters has been recently opened in Sydney in conjunction with the HITA and Sanya Tourism Development Commission to help promote Hainan as a new destination in Australia and New Zealand.
Sanya Tourism Development Commission - Founded in 1990`s, this is the provincial organisation that promotes tourism within the Southern part of Hainan. Sanya is the second largest city on the Island and is also known as the tourism and resort capital, with around 80% of all tourism in Hainan based in Sanya.
