Travellers to visit Nara museums for free
Nara, Japan will be offering free admission into four of its museums just for tourists, so that visitors can learn a little more about this intriguing kingdom. The four museums will permanently waive the admission fee for foreigners from the 1st of August upon presentation of their passports. In a statement, the Prefecture’s Tourism body said of the decision, “The Governor of Nara Prefecture, Arai Shogo has been told by foreign tourists that the entrance fees are too high, and that they wish they could be lowered. “There are several places abroad where foreigners do not have to pay entrance fees. We would like to show our appreciation to people who come from distant places all the way to see the sights in Nara.” The four museums included in this new waiver are the Nara Prefectural Museum of Art, Nara Prefectural Complex of Manyo’s Culture, Nara Prefectural Museum of Folk Law, and The Museum, Nara Prefectural Archaeological Institute of Kashihara. Nara had once been the capital of Japan, during the period between years 710 to 784. Located almost at the centre of the Japanese archipelago, Nara is accessible from Kansai Airport by bus and accessible from Kyoto, Osaka and Nagoya by train. |
