Delta warns about fraudulent emails

Thursday, 31 July 2008

In the last week several consumers have reported receiving emails claiming they had just purchased an air ticket, but instead the emails came with a virus which attacked their computer.

The emails claim that a credit card had been charged for a ticket with Delta, and invite users to download the invoice or receipt attached to the email where the Trojan virus is hiding.

“If you have received one of these emails, do not open the attachment as it may contain potentially dangerous viruses or other malware that may harm your computer,” the carrier said in a statement.

“Be assured that Delta did not send these emails, and our customers’ credit cards have not been charged as a result of the e-mails.”

Delta states that not only did they not sent the emails, they believe that clients’ personal information wasn’t attained from them.

It is recommended that users delete any emails that seem fishy.
