Cebu Pacific on A320 shopping spree

Cebu Pacific of the Philippines has increased its outstanding A320 orders to 15, with a new firm order for five aircraft.

Scheduled for delivery from October 2010 to November 2013, the new aircraft will join an existing A319 and A320 fleet flying on the low cost carrier's extensive domestic and regional route network.

Lance Gokongwei, President and CEO of Cebu Pacific said the airline would carry out the additional orders to maintain growth.

"The A320 Family has played a key role in enabling us to offer a high quality, value-based product," said
"Our latest order will make it possible for us to maintain our expected growth pattern over the coming years. It will also help us to continue our network expansion to reach more destinations across the region."

"We are pleased that Cebu Pacific has once again placed a vote of confidence in the A320 Family," said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer - Customers.

"By placing orders today, the airline is ensuring that it will be well positioned to build on its success with the most modern, efficient and comfortable single aisle product available in the market."

Cebu Pacific is one of the leading low cost carriers in Asia, which operates flight to 32 domestic destinations and 15 cities in other Asian countries.
Altogether, the Manila-based carrier has now placed firm orders for 27 A320 Family aircraft, with 12 already delivered.

Currently, the company has bought 12 A320 Family aircraft and leased nine others from the European manufacturer Airbus.
