In a bid to stimulate more travellers to Kazakhstan, as well as garner more passengers, Air Astana is ramping up its action in the Asia Pacific region. Just recently the airline has hosted several journalists from the region to tour the country on an educational famil, as well as acquaint themselves better with the aircraft product from Air Astana. And already, articles have been picked up by publications including the Bangkok Post in Thailand, the Straits Times in Singapore and the Sunday Mail in Australia. This follows on from expansion from the carrier from its hub in Astana to Novosibirsk, Russia. Air Astana plans to operate the service with the Embraer 190 once it enters the fleet in 2011, but for now will service it with Airbus A320 and Fokker-50s. Currently Air Astana directly serves three destinations in the Asia Pacific, that of Bangkok, Beijing and Seoul. Further growth can be expected from the carrier with six Airbus A320s currently on order to join its fleet of 21. The carrier is looking to operate a fleet of 34 aircraft by 2014, and 63 aircraft by 2022. |
