Double Daily Flights Announced Today on Sydney - Gold Coast Route!

  • Tiger Airways adds more flights to/from Sydney with double the number of flights on the new Sydney - Gold Coast route and fares from just $39*!
  • Lifts total number of flights to/from Sydney to 162 services per week (from Melbourne, Adelaide and Gold Coast) - creating a "virtual base" in Sydney.
  • Tiger Airways to provide more than 1.5 million seats annually to/from Sydney!

The low fare revolution continues to gain momentum for "Sydneysiders" with today's announcement that Tiger Airways will double the number of daily flights between Sydney and Gold Coast due to popular demand, only days after announcing the new route.

The announcement also comes just weeks after doubling the number of flights to Sydney from Melbourne and Adelaide.

Tiger Airways Australia Managing Director, Shelley Roberts, says demand for Tiger Airways' consistently low fares across Australia has been "phenomenal - evidenced by the continued growth and expansion of Tiger Airways Australia at a time when so many competitors are cutting back and streamlining" she says.

Yesterday, Tiger Airways announced a new aircraft for Australia to be based in Adelaide from early 2010 and an increase in flights from Melbourne to popular destinations Hobart, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Adelaide.

Today, the airline is adding an additional daily flight between Sydney and Gold Coast, with fares on sale from just $39* for flights commencing from early February 2010.

"With the additional flights between Sydney and Gold Coast, Tiger Airways will be flying 162 weekly services through Sydney from early 2010. That's equivalent to over 1.5 million seats annually to/from Sydney, making Sydney one of our top domestic destinations - a 'virtual base' for Tiger," says Ms Roberts.

Tiger Airways commenced flying into Sydney from Melbourne on 3 July 2009, with four flights daily and commenced daily flights between Adelaide and Sydney on 31 July 2009.

Tiger Airways is very soon set to put millions of low fare seats on sale for travel period April 2010 - end of October 2010.

Ms Roberts urges people to "jump" online to book early to snap up the lowest fares. "Remember to sign up for the Tiger eNewsletter on the home page of our website so you can be informed regularly of Tiger Airways' news and special airfare deals," urges Ms Roberts.

Flights on the new Sydney - Gold Coast route commence from 15 December 2009 with one daily flight. Fares are on sale now from just $39* one way. Two daily flights on the Sydney - Gold Coast route commence from 5 February 2010. Tiger Airways is currently running a "pay only taxes and charges" sale on 14 popular routes. Sale ends midnight Monday 2nd November 2009. See www.tigerairways.com for bookings and details.
