Reefword Judged Most Unique Accommodation in Queensland
Following a tourism award trifecta at the 2009 Tourism Whitsunday Awards, Fantasea Adventure Cruising’s Reefsleep has won the award for ‘Unique Accommodation’ at the prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards held on the Gold Coast on Friday night. Spending a night on an adventure platform surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef has been judged Queensland’s most unique accommodation experience. Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor said ‘Reefsleep is a unique product where guests can travel out to the Great Barrier Reef, spend their day snorkelling and diving and then stay overnight after the day trippers have gone home.” “There can be nothing more amazing than having the Great Barrier Reef all to yourself. This is a fantastic experience that creates life-long memories,” he said. The only Whitsundays operator to win an award, Fantasea Adventure Cruising general manager Michelle Rynne said she was proud to represent not only Fantasea but also the Whitsundays region. “I’m enormously proud of our dedicated team of employees who have worked so hard to get us to this point and I’m thrilled that this award is representative of the magnificent part of the world that we have been gifted with,” she said. Reefsleep will now progress to the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards which will be held in Hobart on February 26. Fantasea Adventure Cruising is part of the Riverside Marine Group of companies, owned by the Campbell family in Brisbane. |
