Dragonfly Africa Joins Cruise Council
The International Cruise Council Australasia has added destination management company Dragonfly Africa to its growing associate member ranks. Cruise Council General Manager Brett Jardine said Dragonfly Africa's decision to join reflected the increasing importance of the cruise sector to a wide range of travel businesses. "As an associate member, Dragonfly Africa will be able to promote its services and tailored itineraries to all of our Cruise Council accredited agents, as well as provide them with greater knowledge of Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands," Mr Jardine said. He said ICCA planned to introduce a new "Asia & the Indian Ocean" cruise geography module into its training program in early 2010 to cater for growing interest in the region. Dragonfly Africa Director Sales and Marketing Yolanda Woeke-Jacobs said joining the Council was the perfect opportunity to become more involved with the Australasian cruise market, as more and more cruise lines include visits to the Indian Ocean Islands and South African waters in their itineraries. Ms Woeke-Jacobs said the staging of the largest sporting event in the world, the Soccer World Cup, in South Africa during June and July 2010 had sparked considerable and renewed interest in people wanting to visit the destination. Dragonfly Africa is represented in Australasia by Sydney-based Pamela Scott Associates, with Pamela Scott able to share her extensive knowledge of Southern Africa with her clients. The destination management company has a specialist division that is focused on providing pre and post-tour extension options around events and cruises and has almost three decades of experience in creating tailored itineraries in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique and Mauritius. Dragonfly Africa join's South African Tourism, Singapore Tourism, Hong Kong Tourism and the Alaska Travel Industry Association as destination associate members of the Council.
