Passenger accuses flight attendants of stealing money

Monday, 23 November 2009

Flight attendants on Vietnam Airlines have been accused of stealing over $12,000 from a passenger's handbag.

The robbery allegedly occurred on flight VN279 flying from Hanoi to Dong Hoi in Quang Binh Province according to a Vietnam Airline spokesman.

The swindled passenger claims he placed a handbag with VND200 million ($12,088.92) into a luggage compartment on the flight, but when the plane landed at Dong Hoi Airport, the money was gone.

He told Vietnam Airlines' representatives that flight attendants had been wandering around the cabin the whole time during his flight.

After the passenger then made a complaint, other flight attendants that were on the continuing journey to Ho Chi Minh City searched for the money reported news.com.au.

The spokesman said the money was later found under seat 4C, which was not the passenger's seat, and returned to the passenger.

Authorities are now investigating the incident, the spokesman said.
