Mana Island Resort and Spa - so near, yet so far.

Mana Island Resort and Spa has long been recognised as a resort popular with holidaymakers and especially honeymooners from Japan, but today Aussies and Kiwis have discovered Mana, now making up the vast majority of the island's visitors.

Arriving at Mana, located at the heart of Fiji's stunning Mamanuca islands for most people is case of catching the scheduled ferry service from Port Denarau, but some travellers to Mana will splash out and fly to the airstrip located right on Mana with Pacific Sun or others might take a Pacific Island Air Seaplane or even an Island Hoppers helicopter charter.

Whichever way you decide to travel to Mana, the excitement builds up as you approach this stunning reef circled island, to be welcomed by a traditional Fiji islands welcome!

Mana today is a to a large extent a family orientated hotel, although highly suitable for couples, with some great deals on offer in Australia.

The resort offer great pools, should you want a change from swimming on Mana's two spectacular beaches - which is great, because one beach is always sheltered from the wind.

Of course the are bars throughout the resort including at the pool, with two restaurants, one buffet style and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the other a la carte for lunch and dinner - and what better way is there to spend an evening than dining overlooking the sparkling Mamanuca waters.

For a culinary change every week, the resort organises a Lovo, which is a traditional Fijian method of cooking and the food tastes really great.

Entertainment at Mana is also really good and natural with the local church choir coming in to sing with fantastic voices and a fantastic native islander Meke, after which anyone can join in!

For the kids there is a really good kids club and it always amazes me how Fijians look after kids, so no worries there if these happy faces are anything to go by.

Of course there is heaps to do, walking around the island to the various view points, all the water sports you would expect through Awesome Adventures and diving trips to nearby reefs and islands.

There are six categories of rooms at Mana with the lead island bures designed to be rather like a traditional Fijian Village, in addition to the range including honeymoon suites, ocean front bures and beach front bures.

Of course if wedding bells are ringing for you, Mana also offers  fantastic wedding programme in its beautiful we wedding chapel or on the beach.

The environment is very important in Mana and I chatted with one of the managers responsible amongst other things Mana's turtle breeding programme.

Finally, don't just take it from me, click on the Mana on location video embedded in this article and for more information about Mana Island Resort and Spa, visit: www.manafiji.com
